Before we can post the final t-shirt design we have to get approval from A&M. So...I'll keep you all updated on the status but we'll hopefully have a shirt soon!

Roommate Request from Erin Seney
I am a WFSC PhD student in Galveston, and I am traveling to the Joint Meeting of Ichthologists and Herpetologists in Montreal 23-29 July. The room prices at the meeting hotel are rather steep, so I am looking for a roommate to split a room for the nights of 23-28 July. Would you mind sending out an e-mail to the GGSA list to see if there is anyone else in the same situation who'd be interested in sharing a room? I know there is a "find a roommate" message board for the meeting, but I'd rather stay with someone I know or can at least meet beforehand. I can be reached via e-mail at: eseney@tamu.edu.

Announcements for the Week of May 11, 2008
Hello All!
I hope this blog will help keeping everyone up to date with things that are happening in the GGSA community. Please let me know if you would like anything posted and feel free to reply to any of the postings! I will try to update this list every week but we'll see how that goes :) Also, please let me know if you would like GGSA to schedule a "brown bag" meeting for you to present your research and get some feedback from other graduate students. I already have one request and hope to hear back from more of you. Please contact me with any suggestions or comments. Take care and have a great weekend!

I meant to bring this up earlier, and I was going to say something at the meeting, but I figured I would just ask you to send out an email. This Sunday morning (May 18, 8 am to noon-ish) I am having a yard sale at my house (3906 Ave P). Two other grad students are going to join me and I was wondering if there was anyone else who would like to do some spring cleaning and get some money for their stuff. I don't have a ton, so that's why I thought I would ask a few people, because I'm sure between us, and especially the people who are finishing up, we should be able to get enough stuff together for a decent size yard sale. I have a really big yard, so there's really no problem with space. I have a large basement so anyone who wants to join can bring their stuff over anytime this week or saturday and we can store it down there. My cell phone is 301-535-6759 and my office phone is 741-4318. Can you please pass this message along to the grad students? Thanks!

One more thing that I forgot to mention. This friday (May 16) Sam Navarro and the Lonestar Devils will be playing at 10 pm at Jack's Market Street Tavern (2310 market st.). There's no cover and his band is REALLY good. They play Johnny Cash covers, as well as their own stuff, which is pretty upbeat and fun country.
